Missions *use to be* profitable. Yes, you could make a billion in a couple of week (provided you had no life). But missions received a few nerfs and now don't worth doing. And the nerfs are:
 All cash rewards.
We used to receive a payment (ISK) and a reward in the form of trade goods. They were a pain to sell sometimes. We whined. Now we got payment AND reward in ISK. But the ISK reward is only a fraction of what we used to get with the trade goods. Whining not always work.
Crapy storylines.
Before, almost every storyline gave you a +4 implant. Now we have more variety of storyline missions but only a few give implants. You can have 4 storylines in a row with not implant at all. Not worth doing considering the faction standing hit from the rival faction.
Unworthy loot.
This one is self explanatory.

Right now there is only one thing that's *really* good about missions. But if I mention it, it's gonna get nerfed... |

Like others have said: Why not let CCP make a carebear cluster with a carebear version of EvE? I mean, it's not like EVE is the *only* MMO from CCP...

Ohhh conspiracy theories! Me likey. Let me make one:
Since cyno-nets break the eula and will be hunted down, uber pvpers are in need of cyno-alts. But they don't wanna pay RL $$ so they wan't to nerf empire isk-making. That way, empire dudes will go isk-broke and will have to buy GTCs to exchange them for isk. Then pvpiers with high-income due to 0.0 ratting/mining, buy those gtc with isk and apply the codes to their cyno-alts.
